Monday,
December 11, 2006
Opening Remarks – Meeting called to order by Scott
Glackin. Minutes from November meeting
were not on hand to be approved but will be available next month.
Coach’s Report – Coach Tim Behan – Coach Bahen
announced his resignation. He thanked the past and current Quarterback Officers
and Members for their efforts. He will
be submitting outstanding bills in near future. Coach Behan will be attending a recruiting event Thursday and
will get information to the proper people within 3 weeks. Coach Bahen stated
that there would be weight lifting for the players on Mondays, Wednesdays,
Fridays after Christmas break. Many
parents thanked Coach Behan for his dedication to coaching their son(s) at
Pickerington North.
Vice President’s Report – Alicia Reed – Alicia
donated a laptop for football stats, etc. A decision will be made as to who
uses laptop when person volunteers and that person needs to be responsible for
sending stat information to update Pickerington Panthers website.
Secretary’s Report – Cheryl Effinger – Minutes
from November meeting will be available next month.
Treasurer’s Report – Dave Lawler – Copies of
Financial Report distributed. Dave went
over banquet expenses stating that expenses were less than last year mostly due
to the Berwick’s fees per person less because of less people attending – budget
for banquet right in line from projected amount of monies – he thanked Banquet
Committee for watching expenses and doing a great job. Dave had Valentine Dance actual budget from
last year available to have copied for those needing it.
Old/Current Business
Banquet –Scott Glackin commented banquet
went well. He stated that there is a
committee between Pickerington North and Pickerington Central and a discussion
was held at the Athletic Booster Meeting that there would be no more banquets
held off of school property for any sport.
Don Gordon stated that businesses in the Pickerington area have gone to
the school board and complained that they are solicited for donations and
doesn’t see the consumer return.
However, because of Berwick’s very generous donations, Berwick would be
allowed to cater in the food. A discussion was held regarding no business in
area would be able to handle large banquet; if North’s facility was large
enough to handle football banquet; Mark Aprile being aware of situation and
will address it in the future. As of
now, no banquets off of school property policy stands.
Appreciation – As former President Don
Gordon recognized former Secretary Christy Campbell for her years of service to
the Quarterback Club. Christy received
a commemorative plaque and gift certificate for her efforts and participation.
Bingo – A decision was made that the club needs a Bingo
Committee and Don Gordon wants to stay on as Bingo Chairman. A motion was made by Maria Campbell and
seconded by Scott Glackin to that effect. Don will continue his duties with
help from other interested parents. A
discussion was held regarding non-smoking.
A motion was made by Scott Glackin and seconded by Maria Campbell to
vote as to when non-smoking would stop as it was announced at the Bingo Hall
smoking would be extended one week past official date. Members voted on
stopping smoking immediately, extending to the next week or extending if/when
investigators caught us. The majority
of members voted to extend one week past official date.
Valentine Dance – A decision was made that the
club needs a Valentine Committee and Jan Shore volunteered to be Chairman. A motion was made by Maria Campbell and
seconded by Cheryl Effinger to that effect. Several other parents expressed
interest and will be contacted by Jan as to when/where the first Valentine
Dance Meeting will take place.
Girls Basketball Kroger Classic –
Volunteers are still needed and a sign up sheet was passed around at the
meeting for those available to participate and several parents signed up. Comments were made that the club needs more
volunteer participation from the 7th and 8th Grade
Parents. Cheryl Effinger will call 7th
and 8th Grade Parent Class Representatives to look into the matter.
Holiday Party – An impromptu decision was made
to have a Holiday Bingo Thank You Party to be held at Bill Steven’s home.
Although short notice, details will be forthcoming via email to Bingo
Volunteers.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Scott Glackin
and seconded by Maria Campbell. Meeting
adjourned.
