Panther Quarterback Club
Meeting
Minutes
August
14, 2006
Opening Remarks – Meeting
called to order by Don Gordon. Minutes
from July meeting approved.
Coaches Report – Coach
Bahen-Coach feels the scrimmage on 8/12 went well and was encouraging. The next scrimmage is scheduled for Aug. 18,
7 p.m. at home. The team has had a few injured players but nothing
serious. Everyone is healed and ready
for the 1st game on Aug. 25.
Both the High School and Jr. High camps went well. There were over 100 9th-12th
grade participants. Payment of the
athletic participation fee ($190) began today and will need to be paid before
the 1st game or the player will not be able to participate. The
District Office is requesting that you write your medical insurance policy number
on the gray info cards distributed to players.
If you do not have medical insurance, you may pick-up a supplemental
insurance form in the athletic office.
Coach plans to take all Varsity/JV players to the away games unless
sideline behavior becomes a problem. He
may change his mind later.
Secretary Report –Christy
Campbell- Minutes from July meeting were
approved. Motion by LouAnn Shumate,
seconded by Lynn Foltz, motion carried.
Treasurer Report – Dave Lawler –
Copy of treasurer report distributed to those in attendance. We have a good
balance to start the 06-07 year. The Golf Outing, Football Camps, & Pizza
Sale all contributed to a positive start to the year. Bingo report distributed. We are averaging 60 players per week
and a $500 profit each week.
Old/Current Business:
Bingo- The 7th grade class is
scheduled to work bingo in August, but has a game on 8/23. We will need other grades to help work that
night.
Pre-game Dinners- We will provide
a meal for Varsity/JV players on the Thursday before the 1st and
last game. Don will look into DeVinci’s
catering. We need to feed Westerville
South after the scrimmage on 8/18.
Anyone that can help please come to the concessions after the
scrimmage. Don asked those in
attendance for their opinion of having a pig roast before the last game. Positive feedback was given.
Volunteers – Volunteer
sign-up sheets were available at the Mandatory Meeting. We continue to need game volunteers. How can we encourage parents to volunteer?
Many ideas were voiced including: assigning parents. For example: We could
give parents options of days to work Bingo and if they do not respond, then we
assign their dates to work. If they
cannot work those dates, it would be up to them to find a replacement. To encourage 7th grade
involvement we will give the players a flyer that Welcomes them to the Panther
Family.
New Business:
Computers- The football coaches need new
computer system updates. The computers are located in the Football Office and
for FB use only. The cost to update is
approximately $600. Motion to approve
the expenditure by Hope Boren, seconded by Jan Shore, motion carried.
Action Photos- Steve Lewis
has kindly agreed to take action photos of the players again this year. These
photos will be used for the end of the season video.
After Game Get-together- An email
will go out to all parents inviting them to attend a gathering at the American
Legion on the patio after the scrimmage.
Motion to adjourn by Jan Shore, seconded by Kathy Brown,
motion carried.
Dates to remember:
September 18th next club meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Christy Campbell, Secretary
