30 girls running this year; first home invitational in August; hosting more events- Oct. 2nd next home event; Oct 16th OCC league meet being hosted here in afternoon; Regional meet on Oct. 30th is being hosted here as well!! (one of four sites in the state!)

Bailey Flask and Jamie Nichols are top two runners

Marilyn Gerken- girl’s tennis

31 girls tried out- great turnout! Varsity team has only one loss to Dublin Jerome, JV’s first loss was to Upper Arlington this week; Oct 2nd hosting OCC tennis tournament (first time ever Pickerington will be hosting this)

Casey Milligan- boy’s golf

157 average for the season; seeding was today- they were placed second for sectionals; they have won 3 invitationals and 2nd in 2 others

Mark Aprile- athletic director

Schedules have been a nightmare. Schools have been calling to cancel- reporting they don’t have freshman teams or JV teams; so games are constantly being rescheduled. Volleyball, soccer and football have all been affected. Mark reports we have not had a problem fielding teams- a tremendous tribute to our community!

Field conditions- greatly improved, but still have needs

  1. softball needs a central building for concessions, scoring, etc.; if we can get it together, there is a chance we can host the state softball tournament, which would be a benefit to the community as well, as it would bring increased business to the community
  2. baseball needs attention as well, to hopefully host sectional and regional tournaments
  3. 2nd field, which was to be dedicated to soccer, needs lights and a press box to allow games to get completed

These are large scale items we need to think about planning for.

Old Business

  1. concessions scheduling- Lisa has concessions schedule; the original thought was each club was manning their own concessions, but some changes have been made; many clubs have volunteered to cover events; trying to work out exactly how many volunteers we need at each event
  2. Trey Hunter memorial status- Lori Sanders; discussed what the policy is in memoralizing a person; they are presently working on a guideline
  3. Painting of press box with Panther logo- Mark Aprile will report on this at future meeting

New Business

  1. Membership (Mark Uher)- goal is $37,000, and they are just short of this goal presently, so they will definitely exceed their goal; key is informing the sports clubs at the parent meetings; winter sports are encouraged to solicit membership
  2. Concessions (Gina Geist)- no report
  3. Fryer status (Bob Daniels)- no report
  4. Event Parking- no report
  5. Holiday Classic (Bob Cruse)- Rebounders Club is taking over committee chair work and transportation;  still need help with other areas; there are lists for each club to provide names and phone numbers for people to cover various shifts; Bob is asking each club to get their assignments made and return sign up sheet to him by the next Booster Club meeting; or fax it back to him shortly after that
  6. **Executive Board report- Joint meeting Wed. Sept. 29th in lecture hall (7:00 pm) to distribute raffle tickets; 10,000 tickets for each school will be distributed and guidelines for joint raffle will be available in writing; ½ page form for each athlete must be completed to report to which sport(s) they want their ticket sales applied; each athlete is asked to sell 10 tickets, no matter how many sports they participate in; grand prize is 2005 Ford Escape SUV; raffle will be held at Central High School during final game of prep shootout, Martin Luther King Day weekend

***Each club is asked to have a representative present!!

Meeting adjourned at 8:21 pm. Next meeting Sunday October 17th 7:30pm.
