AHTLETIC DIRECTORS REPORT (Mark Aprile)

Great winter season- all five teams won league championships!! First time in history for swimming- way to go!! Cheerleading finished second in the state competition. Great job for a second year school, first year in the league.  Spring sports season starts this week with scrimmages for softball and baseball, Hammond relays for track is this Saturday. Volleyball and tennis start in a week or so.  Coach Langenderfer reports eight schools will be here for Hammond Relays. There are 80 girls on the track team. North will be hosting Division 3 regional track and field meet this year.

CONCESSION REPORT

Lynn has checks for clubs for concessions work, and they were dispersed. Thanks to Lynn for running the winter concessions. Paul has worked on a plan for keeping the concessions running for spring sports. They are looking for someone to head the concessions for the fall. There will be a short meeting after this one to coordinate concessions among baseball, softball and track.  The concessions trailer should be here this week. It will be stationed at the softball diamonds. Greg Boone reports they will, then, not be using the trailer, but will sell chips, hotdogs, drinks, etc. from a station near the dugout, where electricity is available. Greg requested athletic boosters purchase a refrigerator for baseball to use, to prevent the hassle of lugging ice, hotdogs and drinks back and forth. Lisa DeCarlo is calling Coke to find out if they can provide one. Paul reports if Coke does not, then we will find another way of getting one. Dick Schultz recommended renting a unit from Home City Ice, and they take care of refilling the ice, and then there’s enough for the entire season.

SUBWAY
Subway has requested
to become involved in fundraising. Wants to hand out coupons, that will be money off a Sub, with a portion of the savings to go to booster club.

Committee for Responsible Schools is working to pass the bond issue on the May ballot to build new elementary schools. They have requested a donation from the Booster’s club to assist them in their campaign. Paul asked for ideas- Greg Boone moved to make a $2,000 donation, Marcia Stewart seconded. Motion approved.

Mark Aprile stated that Jim Nevius, the head baseball coach, passed away two weeks ago. His family has requested that all donations be made to the Diamond Club. The Diamond Club is working on establishing a scholarship fund in his memory. Paul reports that Mark has pitched in and taken the responsibility of head coach.

Bingo fundraising for QB club is just waiting on the Attorney General’s approval.

Meeting adjourned at  8:05pm. Next meeting Sunday April 17th, at 7:30pm.
